I just want to reclaim my possessions

Zukhra’s husband beat her so badly that when she gave birth to her daughter, she was born with disabilities. Having divorced her husband, she is now battling to get the alimony she is owed.

His parents are forcing him to get a divorce

Nargis’s daughter has health problems. When she was just 40 days old, she was kicked out onto the street by her husband’s parents. They have told her husband that he needs to divorce her, or face being kicked out himself.

Faiziddin lives in a village near Dushanbe. Three years ago his father left to work in Russia and never returned. His mother will not accept alimony. The authorities tell me I do not have the necessary documents

Parvina’s daughter has microcephaly. In order to receive her pension, she needs medical certificates, but she thinks the doctors are delaying for unknown reasons. Her daughter is one and a half and still has not received her pension.

My marriage was not official

Farangiz fell and broke her leg. She was not found until later that afternoon. Whilst recovering in hospital, her husband told her he was divorcing her. Without registration documents she was left with no property or alimony rights.

He burned my passport and other legal documents

Manizha has been married for ten years and endures constant humiliation by her husband. When she threatened to report him, he burnt her documents. In this video she goes to the police and learns about her rights.
